The trees will be put up for auction, as every year, during the gala evening of the Christmas Tree Festival, attended by representatives of the business, cultural, and political scene. The proceeds from the auction will be used by Save the Children to continue the programs of school and social reintegration of underprivileged children.
The organizing committee of the Christmas Tree Festival this year includes TV hosts Andi Moisescu, Mihaela Radulescu and Andreea Raicu; Tereza Munteanu, managing partner of Wunderman; Bianca Dordea, communications manager of BRD-Groupe Societe Generale; Corina Barladeanu, manager of 2activePR; Dan Moraru of BBDO Romania; and Gabriela Terchila, managing director of Proximity. Last year's Christmas Tree Festival raised EUR 660,000 which was invested in projects developed by Save the Children Romania in 2008. The funds ensured that more than 1,600 children and their parents benefited from social and educational services offered through educational centers, and two new centers were opened in Topoloveni and Constanta.
