“Based on the experience gained by Romanian company Rominserv in modernizing Petromidia Navodari and Vega Ploiesti refineries, Rominserv's Kazakhstan subsidiary was appointed the winning company of a bid into which 17 domestic and foreign companies participated,” said Tudorel Dumitrascu, the manager of the international activities division of Rominserv. According to him, the total value of contracts obtained by the firm in Kazakhstan will reach approximately USD 60 million by the end of this month.Modernization works at the plant started at the end of October, and their completion deadline is estimated for the end of next year. The project is part of the modernization program of Atyrau Refinery, an important asset of KazMunaiGas, aiming both to increase the annual processing capacity from 3.5 million to 5 million tons of crude oil, and to improve the quality of manufactured fuels, in compliance with international quality standards.Rominserv estimates that it will reach a turnover of more than USD 146 million this year, 22 percent down on last year's results, caused by the significant decrease in the number and value of industrial projects.
