The Constitutional Court has validates the elections held on December 6, ruling out the fraud allegations pointed out by the Social Democratic Party (PSD). This makes the polls valid, so incumbent president Traian Basescu will hold another five-year term at the helm of the country. He will start his new mandate on December 16. His counter candidate Mircea Geoana, head of the PSD, who has lost in the recent poll, said he has accepted the Constitutional Court decision and wished the new Romanian president good luck in his new mandate. However, he said the moment was a difficult one for his party, and moreover a difficult one for the country, but it was also time to get back to fighting against the financial crisis.
