The local online advertising market has reached EUR 6 million in the first half of this year, down 25 percent compared to the same period of last year, according to a Romanian Online Advertising Study by IAB Romania and PricewaterhouseCoopers Romania (PwC). However, the amount was still 58 percent bigger than the value of the market in 2007. The study compiled data from 14 companies in online advertising, both independent publishers and sales agencies. The final amount represents the total sales of these 14 companies, which represent over 700 websites in total. The biggest investors in online advertising were telecom companies, while investments from banking and financing companies and firms from the car industry have dropped.
