Turkish private medical care provider Medicana Hospital plans to enter the Romanian market in order to benefit from the healthcare tourism, according to company representatives quoted by Today’s Zaman.
The company has recently started projects in Romania and Bulgaria and expects the free movement of patients within the European Union countries to ensure its hospitals a constant flow of customers. The chain of hospitals based in Turkey, a country which is not part of the European Union, also expects to benefit from the free movement of doctors and nurses within the EU. Medicana runs five private hospitals in Turkey. So far, the company has invested $350 million in its healthcare facilities. For its international expansion it targets Balkan and Middle East countries.
