Local construction materials producer AdePlast plans to expand its export base, adding Bulgaria and Ukraine this year, the firm has announced. “We are focusing on finding strategic partners. We are in negotiation with several distribution companies in these two countries,” said owner Marcel Barbut.

The firm has recently started exporting to Slovakia, after sending its products to other countries in the region last year. The Hungarian market brought it EUR 400,000 in sales in 2009. “This year we are working with our distribution partner in Hungary on preparing offers for bids for block rehabilitation in the country. There is a pressure on pricing there too, but we’ve got used to this, after seeing an average drop in prices of 15 percent last year,” said Barbut.

AdePlast exports to Moldova, where it plans to send around 3,000 tonnes of construction materials in 2010. Greece is also an export destination for the firm, although it comes with high transport costs, which the company sees more as marketing costs. “Besides the cash flow generated by exports, we can ensure the continuous flow of our production capacities. Export is a breath of fresh air for any honest producer,” said Barbut.

AdePlast also exports to Italy on a highly competitive market. “The calculation is simple: we have the lowest production price in the area so we are competitive when it comes to transportation on up to 2,000 km for products with a high margin. For products with small margins, we can go to maximum 1,000 km and stay in profit,” said Barbut.

AdePlast was set up in Oradea in 1994 and produces construction materials for finishing works.
