Romania’s trade deficit dropped by 38.4 percent in January, reaching EUR 426.8 million, according to the National Institute of Statistics. This was caused by the increase of imports for the first time since November 2008, with 4.4 percent and by a 19.8 pe cent increase of exports. The last annual import increase was registered in October 2008 and amounted to 3.6 per cent in euro.
