The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Nick Anstee, will lead a business delegation to Romania between April 26 and April 28, in order to promote UK plc and to strengthen further the business relationship between the two countries. He will meet Romanian President Traian Basescu, PM Emil Boc and the ministers of economy and finance, as well as other policy makers and business leaders.

“Romania is an important trade and business partner for the UK as well as a natural ally in the European Union,” commented Anstee. “Indeed Romania has attracted more than EUR 4 billion of investment from the UK whilst more than 4,000 British firms have already established a presence in the market.”

He went on: “By offering training at home and in Romania and by fostering business interaction, we can help Romania boost the quality of its business offer, particularly in areas such as law and accountancy. In return, I hope that UK firms will be well positioned to attract new business in areas such as infrastructure development. Public Private Partnerships (PPP) are well developed in the UK and have delivered a range of major infrastructure projects and services in education, healthcare and the penitentiary system. British businesses have all the necessary experience and competencies to help develop such projects in Romania.”

The delegation will consist of approximately 15 people including high-level representatives from a number of leading City-based firms and organizations such as the London Stock Exchange, the Law Society of England and Wales and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
