After on Thursday Dacia VP Constantin Stroe proposed the Ministry of Public Finance, according to Mediafax, to introduce zero VAT on the purchase of new cars to support sales growth, on Friday the company denied the alleged proposal.
“Automobile Dacia encourages all the measures which allow the new car market to increase, but it did not request the Government to introduce zero VAT on the purchase of new cars,” said the automaker owned by French group Renault.
Car buyers prefer old, much cheaper cars, only a quarter of the 290,000 cars registered last year having been new and neither the new “First car”governmental program proved to be useful, Stroe saying about it that it increases the potential buyer’s “incredible bureaucratic barriers”.
