41 engravings signed by Master Theodor Aman will be auctioned by Artmark as part of the May 26-28 auction session.
All the engravings exhibited at the Auction of Graphics and Maps were listed in the “Collection of Romanian graphics of the nineteenth century” as well as in the “Theodor Aman Engraver” album. Copperplate engraving occupies an important place in the master’s work, his efficiency in this technique having brought him the title of member of the Copperplate Engravers Society in Paris in 1875.
“The card game” (estimated at EUR 1000-1600), “Pepica Aman” (estimated at EUR 700-1200), “Prince Carol I of Romania” (estimated at EUR 400-700), “Pheasant” (estimated at EUR 500 – 800), “The illusionist” (estimated at EUR 700-1200) are just a small part of the Aman patrimony present at the auction.
The auction’s exhibition showcases also engraings signed by Nicolae Tonitza, Theodor Pallady, Iosif Iser, Nicolae Darascu, George Löwendal, Corneliu Baba.
