Average BCR mortgage loan in Romania stands at EUR 36,650

The average value of a loan granted by Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) for the purchase of housing in 2014 was about RON 163,000 (EUR 36,650), according to the bank. Similar values were registered in Timisoara, Iasi and Constanta, while in Bucharest the average mortgage loan amount granted was RON 191,000 (about EUR 42,950).

Nationwide, 45 percent of the loans granted by BCR to buy houses were used for the purchase of two-room apartments, 27 percent for three-room apartments and 10 percent for studios. Over 13 percent of the loans were used to purchase a villa / a house.

In Bucharest, 47 percent of the loans granted by BCR to buy housing were used for the purchase of two-room apartments, 27 percent for three-room apartments and 11 percent for studios. Over 10 percent of the loans were used to buy a villa / a house.

Romanians prefer top-floor housing, also reads the bank’s release. Thus, in 2014, at national level, 19.4 percent of the buyers chose to buy purchase top-floor housing.   

BCR customers who are granted loans to purchase housing are usually men aged 25-40 years old, married, with higher education.
