Romanian short film selected in Cannes section

Search by Ionut Piturescu is one of the short films selected in the category Quinzaine des Realisateurs in the Cannes International Film Festival, from a total of 1,500 short films that were submitted for contention. The production premiered at Palais Stephanie where its creator showed up sporting a gypsy belt and moustache.

Before the premiere, Piturescu said his film was cinema-verite and he hadn’t directed anything in it. He described Search as an atypical road movie since no one knows where the two protagonists come from or where they are heading to.

Quinzaine des Realisateurs is a category which has launched the career of many of today’s top filmmakers such as Michael Haneke and Martin Scorsese.
