Famous American saxophonist Kenny Garrett comes to Bucharest to perform a concert at the Radio Hall on May 14.
Probably one of the most versatile contemporary jazz artists, Kenny Garrett will perform a recital ranging from funk and oriental rhythms to salsa and soul. From songs included on his latest album -“Pushing the World Away” – to the memorable “Happy People”, the concert in Bucharest will review Kenny’s whole career.
“I played with Sting, I played with Guru or Q-Tip, but I went on stage also alongside music legends such as Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard or Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers. I’ve always loved music in all its variety,” the artist said in a press release.
Decisive for the musician’s formation and notoriety has been collaborating for five years with the group of the famous trumpeter Miles Davis, including by making three albums with him.
The latest album of the artist, to be heard also at the concert in Bucharest, is called “Pushing the World Away” and besides countless positive reviews, it also has a Grammy Award nomination for the best jazz instrumental album.
As part of the concert in Bucharest, Kenny Garrett will be assisted by a line up which includes pianist Vernell Brown, bassist Corcoran Holt, drummer McClenty Hunter and percussionist Ruby Bird, all present also on the “Pushing the World Away” album.
