“First of All, Felicia”, directed by Romanian scriptwriter Razvan Radulescu and Dutch film curator Melissa de Raaf, will reach Romanian cinemas starting Friday, June 11th. The movie’s gala premiere will take place at Studio cinema in Bucharest, on June 10th.
The movie is set to reach cinema screens in Bucharest, Constanta, Iasi, Cluj and Bacau.
With an international premiere that took place in 2009, in Sarajevo, “First of all, Felicia” reunites Romania, France, Belgium and Croatia in a moving co-production that strikes an emotional chord among Romanians and not only.
The movie deals with the reality of a 40-year-old Romanian woman, Felicia Mateescu (Ozana Oancea), expatriated in the Netherlands, in search of a better life. The film touchingly captures Felicia on her way to the airport, caught in the Bucharest traffic, along with her sister and father. She now fears that, on the one hand, she will not make it in time to pick up her son from camp in The Netherlands and that, on the other hand, she will not be able to comfort her father, who dreads that he won’t live another year to see his daughter again. The woman finds herself torn between her two homes, families and is now pulled apart by doubts regarding the initial passion that led her to Dutch horizons.
“First of All, Felicia” has been selected for the Goteborg International Movie Festival, the Namur and Salonic Film Festivals, as well as AFI Los Angeles Film Festival. The film’s preview is programmed to take place in Cluj, during TIFF (The Transylvania International Film Festival), where it was chosen to take part in the official competition.
