H&M to open in Baneasa Shopping City in spring 2011

Swedish retailer H&M has announced it is expanding to Romania and Croatia next year, with a first location announced for Bucharest in Baneasa Shopping City.

The Baneasa store will spread on two levels, with entrance and exit points both on the ground and the first level.

The store will also have inside vertical access facilitated by an elevator and two escalators. Besides Romania, Croatia is also on the list of countries to which the retailer is expanding next year, while Morocco will be a new franchise market in fall 2011.H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) was founded in Sweden in 1947 and is quoted on NASDAQ OMX Stockholm.

The company describes its business concept as to offer fashion and quality at the best price. In addition to H&M, the group includes the brands COS, Monki, Weekday and Cheap Monday as well as H&M Home.

The H&M Group has more than 2,000 stores in 37 markets. In 2009, sales including VAT were SEK 118,697 million and the number of employees was around 76,000.
