Romanian new passenger car sales rose 32.7 percent to 47,857 units in the January-July period, from 36,069 units a year earlier, the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association, or APIA, said Monday.
With a total volume of 9,982 units in July, after seven months the total sales volume reaches 57,019 units, a 30.9 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The increase is part of the positive European trend. After seven months, car sales are up 1.9 percent in France, 3 percent in Germany, 10.1 percent in UK and 16.6 percent in Spain.
The Romanian car market is supported mainly through company acquisitions, representing 71 percent of total. Dacia Logan remains the best sold model in July and after seven months, followed by Dacia Sandero, Dacia Duster, Skoda Octavia and Volskwagen Golf.
After seven months, production dropped 8 percent, to 246,227 vehicles. 85 percent of them (209,701 units) were produced by Dacia, 14.8 percent by Ford and 6 units from Roman Brasov.
In July, Romania exported 34,327 cars, bringing the total seven-month export volume to 227,867 units, a 1.1 percent increase year on year.
