A delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Tonny Lybek met this Monday with Romanian officials in Bucharest. The Government’s commitments under the EUR 13 billion loan agreement were analyzed as well as details regarding the Fund’s next mission in Bucharest due in October, according to Mediafax newswire.
Last week, Romanian President Traian Basescu said the Government should use the October meeting to analyze the possibility of signing a new agreement with the IMF.
Romania and the IMF signed last year a EUR13 billion loan agreement, as part of a larger EUR20 billion aid package which includes funds from the EU, the World Bank and other foreign lenders.
