Bergenbier, one of the major beer producers in Romania, will raise its share capital by EUR 65 million, which it needs to develop new investments in the country.
At present, Bergenbier SA has a share capital of RON 2,888,966 (EUR 654,000) owned 99.74 percent by Starbev Netherlands.
The general shareholder meeting scheduled for August will decide to increase the share capital by issuing new shares worth EUR 65 million.
In spite of the beer industry giving signs of recession, Bergenbier estimates the Romanian market will recover its growth and wants to invest in new production lines and promoting its brands. Bergenbier is part of the north-american group Molson Coors Brewing Company.
In the summer of 2012, Molson Coors took over Starbev, with all its operations in Romania, for EUR 2.65 billion.
Bergenbier currently operates a production unit in Ploiesti with a team of 680 employees. Last year it registered a turnover of RON 440 million (EUR 99.7 million), up 1 percent on the year. Bergenbier also managed to cutback on its expenses by 28 percent, to RON 102 million (EUR 23.14 million) according to Finance Ministry data.
