Romanian students came home with six medals from the Balkan Math Olympiad for seniors. Romania’s delegation won two gold, three silver and one bronze at the Olympiad which took place in Bulgaria, at Pleven and ended yesterday (May 6).
Each team member solving four geometry problems, number theory, combinatorics and algebra, all within four and a half hours.
Gold medals
Ioan-Laurentiu Ploscaru from the “Alexandru Lahovari” high school in Ramnicu Valcea
Stefan Spataru from the International Informatics High School in Bucharest.
Silver medals
Paul Muscă, Viorel Andrei Bud and Marius Bocanu, all from the International Informatics High School in Bucharest.
Bronze medal
Andrei teodor Andronache, International Informatics High School in Bucharest
Romania was against teams from other countries in the region: Albania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Macedonia, Greece, the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and turkey, as well as invited countries Azerbaijan, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kirghistan, Saudi Arabia, tajikistan, turkmenistan, UK and Uzbekistan.
