Romania’s much discussed new touristic brand has been declared original and unique by the International Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OHIM) and the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM) and will be used in all international promotional campaigns, has declared tourism minister Elena Udrea, quoted by newswire Mediafax.

What’s more, according to an official press issue from the Ministry of Tourism, starting spring 2011 a promotional campaign for Romania as a touristic destination will be launched on Facebook. Tourism minister Udrea and Blake Chandlee, Facebook vice-president and commercial director for Europe, Middle East and Africa, have presented their collaboration plans during a press conference.

Thus, by December 2010, the strategy for the integrated communication campaign of the social / new media campaign will be finalized. Other aspects of the collaboration will also include training sessions for the ministry’s employees, as well as the stimulation of the development of the Romanian touristic programs by adopting the most recent innovations in the development of the Internet.

Blake Chandlee has stated that although Facebook has collaborated with other national authorities in tourism, being involved in the earliest stages of the campaign, starting with the strategy, is a premiere.
