Romanians are gadget geeks who are open to trying new technology and change their smartphone or tablet every two years, according to a study conducted by Oktal.ro.
“Romanians appreciate technology and are always looking for the newest gadgets. They want their smartphone or tablet to fit a series of requirements: easy to use, multiple functionalities, long-lasting battery, pleasant design, good camera, access to different apps and especially to social networks”, according to Dan Dumitrescu, general manager for Elka-Oktal Group.
Romanian consumers are fickle and yet sensitive to prices. They allocate on average RON 1.000 for a smartphone and RON 800 for tablets. Before making a purchase, they carefully research the products, consult with their friends and use online tools to compare prices and offers.
Things to consider when buying a tablet or a smartphone
1. What is the optimum size for the product: a smaller screen implies a more elegant design, however if you wish to use the gadget for playing or watching video, you need to opt for a wider screen.
2. What operating system is best: iOS is highly intuitive, while Android is very flexible and customisable. Windows is more dynamic, but has fewer apps.
3. Battery life.
4. Do you need a strong processor?
5. How important are megapixels to you?
