52 700 temporary workers in Romania, says ARAMT statistics

The Romanian Association of Temporary Work Agency (ARAMT) held on March 18 the first conference that put in the spotlight the benefits for employees and employers about temporary work in Romania. According to them, temporary work or temporary employment refers to a situation where the employee is expected to leave the employer within a certain period of time.

At this event, according to ARAMT statistics, over 52,700 people were employed in temporary work in Romania in 2013, and the figure was almost identical to that in 2012 ( 52,214 temporary employees) and almost doubled since 2010, when there were 29,926 temporary employees .

Approximately 62 percent of temporary employment have a period exceeding three months, 29 percent takes between 1 and 3 months and 9 percent are short-term (less than one month). Compared to 2012, the share of employment in periods of temporary total market rose by 50 percent in terms of commitments over three months, decreasing significantly in terms of commitments under a month (-50 %) and between 1 and 3 months (21%) . According ARAMT members, in 2013, the temporary work was widespread in production (34 %) and services  (35%). Areas such as agriculture occupied 5 percent of the market for temporary employment, construction, 2 percent, and other areas, 24 percent.

The ARAMT members estimate to offer about 70 percent of the activities of temporary employment in Romania, with a turnover of over EUR 216 million in 2013, with almost EUR 40 million more than in the previous year. This represents an increase of over 20 percent over 2011 and 60 percent over 2010.
