US company Groupon, which sells collective offers, has entered the Romanian market. At the moment, there are already 18 such websites in Romania, which means that Groupon will face important competition, but the company did not wish to make its entrance here through a takeover. The company will initially have 17 employees in Romania. Groupon aims to reach 500,000 users in four months after it launches on the local market. While in other countries each user brings the company EUR 1 per month, in Romania it expects this value to be 20-30 percent lower. The largest majority of Groupon users are women. Groupon received an acquisition offer from Google which put on the table USD 6 billion, but the offer was denied.
