The research conducted by the British TV channel found that 47% of people thought migrants from Romania and Bulgaria should have no right to live, work or claim benefits in the UK. Also, the study revealed that some 56% of respondents believed immigration had resulted in a negative impact on Britain. The entire report of the survey can be read here.

At the same time, Political Editor of Channel 5 Andy Bell spent a week in Romania, and his report about this issue can be summarizing as “some Romanians will definitely come but I do not expect a “flood”. Romanians have already had lots of opportunities to work in the UK, through regulated work schemes for instance in agriculture, or through being recruited by UK employers.” More about Andy Bell’s report regarding Romania can be read here.
