Google Maps is expanding its public transit directions support by launching the service in Romania, where users from seven cities will now be able to discover what public transit routes will take them to their destination. The new tool is available in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi, Ploiesti, and Timisoara, for now. It lists all the public transit options available in any of the cities.
“Starting today, locals, as well as visitors and tourists, can obtain information regarding local public transport means and can choose the routes they want straight from Google Maps,” said Dan Bulucea, Romania country manager for Google.
Public transit directions present several alternative routes along with an estimated trip time. For public transport, the arrival and departure time is also listed, though that depends on the buses and trams arriving on time.
Last year in June, Google Maps expanded coverage of the service which allows users to see traffic conditions in real time to seven new countries: Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Mexico, Peru, Romania and South Africa.
Besides traffic and weather conditions, the service also offers drivers an estimated time of the journey.
