Between September 26-29, this year’s edition of the Bok & Bibliotek Book Fair at Goteborg, Sweden, focuses on the Romanian literature. According to the Romanian Cultural Institute Stockholm, the initiative is supported by a record number of translations into Swedish, namely eleven titles from various genres: fiction, poetry and philosophy and Canonical writers (Emil Cioran, Marin Sorescu) established authors (Mircea Cartarescu), as well as debutants (Catalin Dorian Florescu). Among the translated authors are also writers who live in Romania (Gabriela Adamesteanu) and exiled authors (Norman Manea, Gabriela Melinescu), and their work cover a wide array of topics, ranging from history (Varujan Vosganian) to femininity and motherhood (Ioana Nicolaie).
Another novelty for this year’s book fair is that nine of the authors whose books have been translated will participate, either by hosting seminars or welcoming readers at the Romanian bookstand.
