State arrears amounted to RON 1 billion (EUR 245 million) at the end of March, which was within the limits set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to Gheorghe Gherghina, state secretary in the Ministry of Finances.
He said the arrears of the central administration were under RON 200 million (EUR 49 million) while arrears at a local level amounted to RON 841 million (EUR 206 million).
The arrears of the central budget, the social insurance budget and local authorities summed up RON 1.1 billion at the end of last year and it must go down to RON 900 million by the end of this year, according to an agreement with the IMF.
