The board of the National Bank of Romania (NBR) has decided to leave unchanged the monetary policy rate at 6.25 percent per annum. It is for the ninth consecutive time when this decision has been taken. NBR hasn’t changed the monetary policy rate since May 2010 when it was reduced by 0.25 percent, to the current level.
NBR has also announced that it will continue to pursue an “adequate” management of liquidity in the banking system and has decided to maintain the existing levels of minimum reserve requirement ratios on both leu- and foreign currency-denominated liabilities of credit institutions.
