Rominserv, the general contractor of Rompetrol Group, finalized, this week, the construction works for a mild hydrocracking installation and a hydrogen plant. These installations are part of a program that seeks to increase the processing capacity of the Petromidia refinery to 5 million tons, with an investment cost over USD 264 million, while the whole package totals USD 377 million.

Rominserv will handle the integration of the new installations in the operational flux of the refinery, process that is expected to finalize in February or March 2012.

The mild hydrocracking installation has a capacity of 1.7 million tons a year and will increase the production of Euro 5 diesel, in the same time supplying low sulfur for specialized installations. Meanwhile, the hydrogen plant will ensure the extraction of sulfur from oil, allowing the production to reach Euro 5 standards. The plant has a capacity of 40,000 cubic meters/hour.

“As general contractor of Rompetrol Group, we have been able to finalize state-of-the-art projects on term, while maintaining tight control of costs, due to a complete coordination of competences from Engineering, Acquisitions, Constructions and Project Management. Similar projects finalized in turn-key regime with external firms may have additional costs between 30 to 50 percent, compared to our accomplishments”, stated Bogdan Oslobeanu, general director Rominserv.

Rominserv estimates a turnover of USD 200 million for this year. Since 2001, the company finalized projects totaling USD 850 million within the Rompetrol Group, out of which USD 550 million just in the last 4 years.
