Anchor Grup, the owner of the Bucuresti Mall and Plaza Romania shopping malls will invest EUR 50 million in revamping the two centers, the company has announced. This will take the total value of the investment portfolio of Anchor Grup in Romania to EUR 350 million, said representatives of the Turkish investor.
The rearrangement and reconfiguration of the two retail units should generate an additional leasable area of more than 20 percent.
“It is not a mere renovation, but the first transformation of a retail project, carefully and strategically orchestrated for the upcoming 5-10 years (…)We will practically have two brand new malls in Bucharest”, said Ali Ergun Ergen, CEO of Anchor Grup.
Anchor Grup is part of the Fiba Group holding which comprises 76 companies from 12 countries. It has been present inRomaniasince 1997, investing in retail, real estate, and the residential market. Anchor Grup’s local portfolio includes the Bucuresti Mall (opened in 1999 – it was the first shopping mall in Bucharest) and Plaza Romania (2004) shopping malls, the Anchor Plaza office building and the InCity Residences residential project. The company also developed the Shopping MallDova mall in Chisinau.
