The 49 landline telephony providers in Romania have seen a rise in the number of fixed telephony lines and the number of subscribers in the second half of last year.
However, the volume of the traffic and the average duration of a call have declined compared to H1, 2011, according to a report published by the national telecom authority ANCOM.
Thus, the volume of traffic on fixed lines diminished by 14 percent, reaching 6 billion minutes.
The number of fixed telephony lines has gone up 4 percent to 4.69 million lines. Of these, 3.84 million lines have been installed for individual customers (up 3.8 percent compared to 2010), while 850,000 were installed for companies (up 5.4 percent compared to 2010).
Similarly, the number of subscribers has also surged by 4 percent to 4.04 million.
The penetration rate of landline telephony among the population has reached 24.6 percent while the penetration per household has reached 54.1 percent.
