British Romanian Chamber of Commerce – Digitalisation is the key to a better medical system

British Romanian Chamber of Commerce with the support of Hellenic Romanian Chamber of Commerce, University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Carol Davila” Bucharest, Asociatia pentru Dezvoltarea si Promovarea Telemedicinei, BDR Associates, Tarus Media and Oameni si Companii  organized a conference on healthcare on the 22nd of September focusing on current trends in the pharmaceutical industry in relation to environmental sustainability.  

The debate focused on the opportunities generated by digital tools and services now available  to support patients treatment and to improve the performance and quality of the current health systems. This set the scene to the regulatory perspectives at the national level and best practice models for the companies active in the field of healthcare, together with both the academic and the private environment.

The event was moderated by Dr. Bogdan Cristian Pana – PhD, Public Health and Management Specialist. Lecturer at Public Health and Management Department – University of Medicine and Pharmacy „Carol Davila” Bucharest, having a long experience in private and public health care systems in Romania.

He mentioned: „New trends in digital healthcare are giving way to opportunities for better access, increased availability, but they also come with challenges and questions about inequities and malpractice enforcement. The event featured both interesting debates and opinions from experts in the field.”

Panel I: „Sustainable Healthcare Coalition and Improving Standards of Patient Care” focused on the main challenges for the local health system in Romania as well as debates around a better local medical system for the patients and the role of the digitalization.

Dragos Butufei-Founder Doctor Tom mentioned: „The healthcare industry is one of the most complex globally.  It represents one of the most important pillars in a society.  I am not a doctor, but my professional experience in the private health environment determined me to continue my mission.  The Doctor Tom project represent my overall experience throughout my existence and it is a part of who I am.”

Panel II: „Delivering Healthcare in Romania in The Sustainability Context” – discussions focused on the technology frontline as being the key for a better medical system by outlining a couple of digital solutions offered by Regina Maria, ETeledoc and Telios to support a better interface with the patiens and a faster and easier access for the emergency specialities.

British Romanian Chamber of Commerce has the comitment to get involved and be very active in representing our members interest in the healthcare sector and contribute to the digitalization of the system, being also co-chair together with CCIFER in CDR Healthcare taskforce. Starting with last year, BRCC has created an internal working group on Healthcare to put into practice mechanisms of cooperation, to encourage the exchange of good practices, ideas, diagnoses and opportunities in the health field. Main objectives of the group are: the promotion of British expertise in the field of health, through the participation of several actors in this sector, members of BRCC, contribution to the improvement of the health system in Romania with the help of globally recognized British expertise as well as encouraging the exchange of good practices and cooperation  between different actors in the sector.
