Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, celebrates 25 years of activity in Romania through its local subsidiary. One of the most successful and longest-running organizations of the global company, Schneider Electric Romania currently coordinates a group of countries that includes Armenia and the Republic of Moldova.

The company started its activity in Romania in 1997, with headquarters in Bucharest and regional agencies in Constanța, Cluj, Iasi, Brasov, Craiova and Timișoara. In the early 2000s, TAC’s building management systems and safety power divisions completed the initial portfolio of products and services.

Since 2007, following the international merger between Schneider Electric and APC, the company began to market APC products and solutions for data centers, Edge Computing and uninterruptible power supplies in Romania, and also from the same year, took over the coordination of operations in the Republic of Moldova.

With a portfolio of clients from the most diverse economic fields – from heavy industry to retail, from construction to IT – the company currently provides products and services in Romania in four markets, all of them large consumers of electricity, with consumption efficiency objectives: the commercial and residential buildings market, the industry market, the infrastructure market and, last but not least, the network and data center market. According to global data, these four markets cover 70% of the world’s energy consumption, and Schneider Electric provides automation and consumption optimization solutions and systems for all of them.

“During the 25 years of activity in Romania, Schneider Electric had as a priority the implementation at the national level of two of the most important global trends at the present time – digital transformation and energy efficiency, trends that have seen an accelerated rise especially in the last years,” says Lucian Enaru, General Manager Schneider Electric Romania, Republic of Moldova and Armenia. “Currently, about half of our revenue comes from digitization-related solutions and services: connected products, edge solutions, software, AI and VR-based services.”

The Romanian subsidiary provides, through the Bucharest Hub, specialized assistance in 16 languages for Schneider Electric customers from 25 countries. Its experts coordinate important functions at the European level or of the SEE-South Eastern Europe region.

“At Schneider Electric Romania we have the opportunity to nurture the loyalty of our employees through excellent career opportunities, local and international, through our global digital platform, Open Talent Platform”, explains Cristina Mancaș, SVP HR Schneider Electric SEE. “Our team, built with tenacity and care for people over a quarter of a century, is one that now supports the company’s business performance, in a market that increasingly needs solutions for energy efficiency and the transition to the digital environment. Romanian initiatives have often become international projects and programs, and this is an aspect that gives meaning to our work and contributes to the homogeneity of a healthy and competent team.”

Schneider Electric works with the largest companies in the country on projects for automation and energy efficiency of buildings and work flows – among the company’s traditional customers are companies from the metallurgical industry, retail, health, food production, construction and infrastructure. The ranges of ultra-finished appliances marketed by Schneider Electric, along with complex solutions for smart homes, are available through the companies’ retail partners – large international DIY chains, but also a network of specialized retailers.
