Chairry Design & Furniture, a company specialized in the fit-out segment – complete interior design and furniture solutions, delivered over 3,500 square meters of interiors for hotels and restaurants in Romania, in 2021 and in the first part of 2022.

The average investment in a new hotel design in Bucharest or large cities of Romania is between 600 – 1,000 euro / sqm; for new restaurants and cafes, it can start from 400 euro / sqm. The estimates include interior design concept, fit-out and furniture, without aspects related to construction or renovation. In case of exclusive concepts (as in the case of 5-star hotels), the investment in interiors can reach higher investments, depending on the concept, the furniture brands, materials and details used in the arrangement or other elements.

The hotel market has been severely affected by the pandemic for the last 2 years and it is expected to fully recover by 2024. Almost 20 new hotels could be delivered to the Romanian market by 2023, approximately 50% of which are located in the Capital City, according to operators` official announcements.

Also, the data available at European level reveals an accelerated growth volume of travel in 2022. Thus, tourists intend to spend 39% more on travelling this year versus 2019 and some of the European tourists will be absorbed by Bucharest and the big cities of Romania.

According to Chairry Design & Furniture, the consumers` expectations increase regarding their experiences in HORECA, closely related to people`s desire to relax and focus on wellbeing determined a much more competitive market in terms of investment, concept and products offer. Both restaurants, cafes and hotels implement new solutions and innovations in terms of experiences, but also interior design, to capture the attention of future customers who have become accustomed to takeaway and delivery services during the pandemic.

The inflation that has also been affecting the HORECA segment from the beginning of this year will bring important changes that will be seen in the design elements. According to Chairry Design & Furniture specialists, the “dark kitchen” trend will gain ground in the field of restaurants, meaning a space optimization for preparing products areas and increasing the importance of serving spaces, in order to accommodate a larger flow of customers.

“The HORECA sector recovered surprisingly quickly, given the pandemic situation that restricted the activity of many businesses. Given the effervescence in this sector, Chairry relies on a turnover of 2 million euros in this segment alone until the end of 2022,” says Raluca Dorobantu, Managing Partner Chairry.

Last year, the company registered a total turnover of 1.1 million euros, amid an effervescent market in the furniture and interior design segment in Romania.

Chairry Design & Furniture, a Romanian entrepreneurial company, has been operating on the local market for over 20 years and specializes in design and interior design, as well as in the supply of furniture solutions imported or produced locally. In total, Chairry has so far imported over 20,000 pieces of furniture and arranged over 50,000 sq m of interior space.
