Painter of Silence by British writer Georgina Harding, a novel about the 50s in Romania was launched at the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.
The book tells the story of the friendship, set during the Second World War, between Augustin, who is dumb and deaf and draws to tell his life and Safta, a young nurse who is the only one that understands these drawings.
The novel published by Bloomsbury was nominated at Orange Prize 2012, but it remains to be seen if it will be shortlisted for the prize.
Georgina Harding also wrote The Solitude of Thomas Cave, (published by Bloomsbury in 2007) and two non-fiction works Tranquebar: A Season in South India and In Another Europe”. Her second novel was called The Spy Game and was published by Bloomsbury in 2009.
