Tenor Alessandro Safina is set to take theBuchareststage again for a Woman’s Day representation of Together with You (Insieme a te) on March 7. He will be performing alongside the Ion Dacian National Lyric Orchestra at the Palace Hall.
Safina has enjoyed an impressive international opera career, performing on top stages worldwide. Born in Siena, Italy, he discovered his passion for music at an early age and entered the musical academy when he was twelve years old. His repertoire includes both opera and operetta with pieces such as The Barber of Seville, Eugenio Onieghin, La Boheme, Sissi, Orfeo All’Inferno, The Cheerful Widow.
In early 2000 his popularity soared when he combined classical with pop music to create a new style, which he labeled “Rock Opera”. The single “Moon” was at the top of the charts for 14 weeks.
The concert “Insieme a Te” was released in over 30 countries and received a gold record in Brasil andTaiwanand became a four times platinum in The Netherlands within few months.
In 2001, Safina contributed to the success of Baz Luhrmann’s feature film Moulin Rouge, performing Elton John’s ”Your Song” with actor Ewan Mc Gregor. His duets continued with Elton John, Carlos Santana, Rod Stewart, Miriam Stockley, Sarah Brightman and Jose Carreras.
