Danish company FirstFarms which owns about 7,500 hectares of agricultural land in Romania, has appointed a new CEO.
Anders H. Norgaard will fill the position starting June 1. He is replacing Per Villumsen who will be transferred to a position as COO in FirstFarms with the responsibility for the overall operational activities in Slovakia and Romania.
45-year olf Norgaard has served as CFO in Eskelund Gruppen for the past 6 years and has professional background in economy, financing and business operation, including operations related to agriculture in Eastern Europe. He has also worked for 20 years in Nordea, a financial services group in the Nordic and Baltic region, mainly in positions with focus on financing of larger business enterprises.
About FirstFarms
FirstFarms started operations in Romanian in 2007 when it begun to buy agricultural land.
In the 2011 – 2012-season, FirstFarms cultivated cereals on approx. 4,300 hectares of agricultural land in Eastern Romania, about 120 km from Bucharest. The company plans to expand the operated area to 10,000 hectares of land.
As of January 2012, FirstFarms owns a total of 7,536 hectares of land in Romania but not all is consolidated. The company is working on getting all the land it owns registered and consolidated, so large-scale operation can take place.
FirstFarms is a public limited company which invests in agriculture and land in Eastern Europe. The company has been listed on NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen since December 2006. Danish FirstFarms also has operations in Slovakia.
