National television has accumulated debts of EUR 100mln

The national television channel TVR has accumulated debts of EUR 100 million, according to a transcript that was leaked in teh media, which detailed the meeting of the administration board of the institution on November 29.

The transcript contains the dialogue between the president and GM of TVR, Alexandru Lazescu, and members of the administration board. “The first observation is that we start from the following situation: we have a burden, a historical debt of approximately EUR 100 million, we are in that situation even though the euro varies,”

On December 5, the parliament approved the 2012 budget for TVR in value of RON 150,182,000, which represented 13.26 percent less than the budget of the institution in 2011.

The sum that TVR required from the state budget represents 31 percent of the financing sources of TVR. The remaining 69 percent will represent financing from the institution’s own revenues- advertising revenues, the TV tax etc.
