Days off in 2012. See the list of legal holidays this year

When in Rome, act like the Romans. More precisely, in this case, when in Romania, you can celebrate like Romanians the legal holidays that are stipulated in the Labor Code.

Besides the days written below, the list of legal holidays could include other two days, Saint Andrew (November 30) and The Day of Independence (May 10), as a bill on this issue was passed last year by the Senate but is still pending approval from the Chamber of Deputies.

In total there are 11 legal holidays (including the first and second days of January), but some of these fall during the week-end.

BR gives you the full list of red-letter days so you can plan your city breaks accordingly in 2012.

  •  the 1st and 2nd day of the Easter (April 15 and 16) which fall on a Sunday and Monday respectively
  • the International Labor Day (May 1) which falls on a Tuesday
  • the 1st and 2nd day of the Pentecost (June 3 and 4) which fall on a Sunday and Monday respectively
  • the Assumption of Mary (August 15) which falls on a Wednesday
  • the Romanian National Day (December 1) which falls on a Saturday
  • the 1st and 2nd day of Christmas (December 25 and 26) which fall on a Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
