State-owned electricity generator and distributor Electrica has cancelled the public auction for wind turbines and will start a new one. The company is trying to acquire wind turbines for the 45 MW Frumusita park, located in Galati County, and for the Chirnogeni park in Constanta County.
Electrica says bidding companies failed to adapt contracts to public procurement legislation available in Romania, also providing incomplete solutions for the connection of the parks to the grid. Thus, the company will organize a new auction for the wind turbines acquisition estimated to reach EUR 70 million.
Development works for the Frumusita wind park began in 2010 and Electrica is currently trying to acquire the wind turbines and financing from banks. The park will have 15 turbines, spanning on 70 ha, and will generate 150,000MWh ever year. Measurements reveal the annual average wind speed in this area is 7.2meter/second at 100 meters.
Electrica estimates that the output of green energy from these two parks will grant 500,000 green certificates annually through to 2017, and 250,000 certificates annually after this year.
