Private equity fund Polish Enterprise Fund VI, which is managed by Enterprise Investors, launched Wento, an investment vehicle that will handle the construction of wind farms in Poland, but also in other CEE markets, including Romania.

“We have been analyzing the wind energy market in some depth for almost a year. As a result, we strongly believe that Wento has excellent prospects for robust development. In addition to its activities in Poland, Wento may consider entering other CEE markets in the future, especially the Romanian wind energy market, which also appears to be very attractive for investors,” said Michal Rusiecki, Managing Partner of Enterprise Investors.

Wento is already performing due diligence for three projects with installed capacity of 200 MW. Around EUR 40 million will be invested by the Enterprise Fund for wind parks located in Poland. Once finalized, the farms will be sold to strategic or financial investors.

Total wind installed capacity in Romania reached 982 MW at end-December 2011, according to data from the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA).
