Romania is considered the 45th best nation brand in the world, above New Zealand or Portugal, and the best nation brand in its region in the latest UK-based Brand Finance’s „Nation Brands 2018”.
Last year, Romania ranked 49th in this report.
The best nations’ brands in the world this year are the United States, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan and France.
Romania ranks this year above more developped nations like New Zealand (46th place), Portugal (48), or Greece (59).
Moreover, Romania is considered the best nation brand in its region, all its neigbors being placed lower in the rankings: Hungary (54), Ukraine (60), Bulgaria (70), and Serbia (80). The Republic of Moldova is not considered in this report.
“The effect of a country’s national image on the brands based there and the economy as a whole is now widely acknowledged. In a global marketplace, it is one of the most important assets of any state, encouraging inward investment, adding value to exports, and attracting tourists and skilled migrants,” the report says.
The Brand Finance Nation Brands report shows the benefits that a strong nation brand can confer, but also the economic damage that can be wrought by global events and poor nation brand management.
