The Supreme Court has decided to approve a request by DNA prosecutors to reopen the TelDrum privatization case, in which Liviu Dragnea is accused of abuse in office against public interest. The case was initially closed in 2013 due to lack of evidence.
The case also involves Teleorman County Council workers Mugur Bataus and Victor Pipearea, as well as Gheorghe Giui, Ion Mirancea and Victorita Pascutu.
Marian Fiscusi, who went to highschool with Dragnea and was the first owner of TelDrum, is also involved in the case. In April 2018, Fiscuci ran out of the DNA headquarters, where he had been called for questioning in a case where he was investigated for forming an organized crime group, to avoid journalists.
The investigation looks at the way TelDrum was privatized and the contracts the company received from the Teleorman County Council while Liviu Dragnea was its president.
