Requests for the restitution of previously paid auto tax can be submitted to the Fiscal Agency (ANAF) by August 31 at the latest, according to the emergency ordinance adopted by the government in 2017. The auto tax was enforced in several forms between January 2007 and January 2017.
Taxpayers who do not submit their requests by the deadline will not be able to do so at any other time.
Restitutions can be made for the various versions of auto taxes regardless of the period when the tax was collected.
The restitution form can be downloaded from the ANAF website, filled out and submitted to the fiscal unit linked to the address on the ID card.
The amounts to be returned will be calculated by the fiscal agency and will be sent to the taxpayer’s bank account.
