The ship building in Romania increased by 40 percent to EUR 1.1 billion in 2010, from the previous year, according to data from the Romanian Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment. Most of the production went to export, and additional deals have been signed for the following two years.

During the EUROPORT fair, organized this month in Rotterdam, export contracts worth EUR 60 million have been signed; while another EUR 50 million represent export commitments. These contracts referred to buildings of ship parts, dredging vessels, as well as naval equipments.

This March, during the EUROPORT fair held in Istanbul, Romanian companies signed deals of approximately EUR 25 million in the ship building area. Contracts worth EUR 200 million have also been signed this May, during the Nor-Shipping fair held in Oslo.
