Former Transport minister and senator Dan Sova has been convicted by judges at the High Court of Cassation and Justice in Bucharest to three years in prison in the CET Govora case, for influence peddling. Today’s sentence cannot be appealed.
At the last court appearance, anti-corruption prosecutors had asked judges to convict Sova to a maximum sentence of 9 years and four months.
Dan Sova was put on trial in January 2017 in the CET Govora case, accused of taking a EUR 100,000 bribe to ensure that a contract between CET Govora and a law firm would be signed. The first appealable sentence of three years for Sova in this case was given out in September 2017.
