The famous American coffee chain Starbucks has entered a new market segment in Romania by opening up a new drive-thru unit in Militari Shopping Center in Bucharest, according to zf.ro.
The group is thus entering a segment that has already been tested by fast-food restaurant chains like McDonald’s or KFC, whose representatives have said that the drive-thru format is very good for sales.
The first Starbucks drive-thru will be open daily between 5 am and 1 am. The first 100 customers will receive a limited edition reusable cup as a gift.
Starbucks is celebrating 10 years since they entered the Romanian market, and now has a total of 37 coffee shops operating in the whole country.
The company is aiming to double the number of units by 2020, betting on the growing local market.
Mateusz Sielecki, Starbucks regional director: “We are delighted to welcome the driver community and Starbucks fans to the first Drive Thru coffee shop in Romania. Starting this week, coffee lovers in Bucharest can order their Starbucks drinks at the wheel. We have a fantastic team, ready to satisfy your needs and guide you through this new extraordinary coffee experience”.
