King Mihai of Romania has died at his residence in Switzerland, the Royal House of Romania announced on Tuesday. King Mihai was aged 96 and had been in a serious condition since last year.
King Mihai I had retired from public life in March last year, when the Royal House of Romania announced his health was deteriorating after undergoing a surgery.
On November 6, the Royal House had announced that his condition has worsened. That is why, Princess Margareta and Price Radu traveled to Switzerland.
According to a statement released by the Romanian Royal House, details about the former monarch’s funeral will be revealed tomorrow.

Those who want to pay their last regards to King Mihai I can do so at the Peles Castle in Sinaia and for two days at the Royal Palace on Calea Victoriei. The funeral service will be held in Bucharest at the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchal Cathedral. He will be buried at Noua Catedrala Arhiepiscopala si Regala in Curtea de Arges.
Those who want to place flowers are invited to do so at the Royal Palace on Calea Victoriei.
The Custodian of the Crown of Romania will address the country today at 7 pm.
