Romanian high school student Tiberiu Danciu, enrolled at the Grigore Moisil National College in Bucharest, won the 1st prize and the title of Microsoft Word champion at the 2017 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship.
He is the first Romanian to achieve this remarkable feat, after competing in the final against 156 competitors from 49 countries. The competition attracted a total of 560,000 competitors from all over the world.
The competition, organised by Microsoft and Certiport is held every year. This year’s edition, the 15th, was held in Anaheim, California between July 31 and August 2.
Tiberiu was the first to complete the task in approximately 20 minutes. He also holds two international MS Office certifications and became a national champion in April 2017 after obtaining 1,000 points out of 1,000 in just 11 minutes and 36 seconds.
“I hesitate between studying AI at the University of Nottingham in the UK or at the MIT, after which I plan to return to Romania, to put my professional qualifications to good use. I am permanently trying to overcome my limits. Believe in yourselves and let’s make the country proud,!” said Tiberiu.
