The Romanian Embassy in Stockholm said it got in touch with the Swedish authorities to check if Romanian citizens were affected by the attack that took place in the capital on Friday.
Swedish police say at least three people were killed and many were injured after a truck ploughed into a crowd on a shopping street and crashed into a department store in the center of the city.
Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said that everything indicates it was a “terror attack” and that one suspect was arrested.
“The intervention of relevant authorities is taking place at this moment and the evaluation of the effects of the incident has not been finished up to now,” according to a statement of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
The MAE said that the Romanian diplomatic mission in Sweden will continue to closely monitor the situation.
